Meditation

Created by Lucy one year ago

Meditation was something Mick found very beneficial over the years.
These are the rudrashka beads he used when he first started taking it more seriously. In time he was gifted other beads that had meaning pertinent to him, from Makiyo and Guy.
Makiyo and Mick often talked about the importance of meditation and their different practices. When he got his diagnosis Makiyo spoke about a book by Dr Joe Dispenza, it rang a bell with Mick and it transpired he already had it but had not yet read it. Mick was always interested in what Makiyo thought about these subjects, they had a good connection which he valued.
Mick was prompted to book an appointment with his GP in spring 2021 because he felt a vibration in his chest when he was meditating. He was a little disappointed when he first got his diagnosis that the Dr wasn’t more impressed when he told them the site of his primary cancer. ‘How many people could have done that’ he said to me, ‘they have no idea what they’re dealing with with me!’
He wasn’t wrong
The blanket was crocheted for him by my maternal Grandmother. Mick and she got on so well, he gave her the nickname at some point in the 90s which has stuck to this day ‘Granny Europe’.
Mick used to enjoy chatting with her and hearing her tales and she loved him. The blanket was symbolizing the night sky and stars, he used to have it around his shoulders when he meditated. The theme came from one of the talks about the sky, planets and of course, Mick quoting Shakespeare.

Mick was often concerned about my stress levels and he bought me a book about a week before he died called ‘Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics’. He was about ¾ through reading it because he wanted to be sure it would work for me.
I will start reading it next week.
